Frequently Asked Questions for Grooming

There are a few car parks in Rickmansworth, all no more than a 5-minute walk away. The nearest is Northway WD3 1EW. You can also park for up to 2 hours along Northway or Station Road, but spaces are limited. Please check car parks for payment information.      

Our Harefield studio offers plenty of on-site parking for your convenience. You'll find us at Crazy Tails Retreat, Cripps House Farm, Springwell Lane, Harefield UB9 6PG. We recommend driving via Rickmansworth or Harefield towards Harefield Heart Hospital, which brings you to the top of Hill End Road. This route helps you avoid the narrow lanes from the Mill End direction.      

When you arrive as a new customer you will need to complete some grooming info and agreement form while we assess your dog. This will take approx. 5 minutes. For dogs who have already visited us before please let us know if you require anything different from your last groom and if your dog has had any medical or health changes since their previous groom.  

We do not allow customers to stay with their dogs during the grooming process as dogs can become anxious when their owners are there waiting. If we feel a dog is over-anxious, we will call you for collection. Please speak to us if you are worried about leaving you dog at all.

Your dog will have time to have a bathroom break and play in our secure backyard and explore the studio freely which always makes a more enjoyable and relaxing time for the dog. We do not use cages or pens at Crazy Tails.

It is important to collect your dog on time. You will be advised of rough estimate of a collection time before you leave and will be sent at text message 15 minutes before we would like your dog collected. Please pick up at the time we give you. If you are more than 15 minutes late to collect your dog a late collect charge of £5 will be added to your grooming bill for every additional 15 minutes your dog is with us. We are a busy studio and will have to take time from our other clients to look after you dog.  

After every groom we are happy to talk to you about grooming at home and products you may need to help you. We hope you’ll be happy with the finish but if you have any questions or suggestions, please speak to us at this time.

We will advise you of the cost of your groom before you leave your dog with us and will take payment on collection of your dog. We accept cash or card. Prices quoted may change if matting, fleas, ticks or temperament requires us to take more time, but we will always call during the groom to advise any change in price.

If you need to cancel or re-arrange your appointment you must contact the studio you have booked with at least 48 hours before your appointment time. This will give us time to fill the appointment slot. All clients are required to pay a deposit to secure their appointment.  Unfortunately, if an appointment is cancelled within the 48-hour window, the deposit will be forfeited, and a new deposit will be required when rescheduling a new appointment.

For dogs who have already visited us before please let us know if you require anything different from your last stay and if your dog has had any medical or health changes since their previous visit.  

 All daycare and home boarding bookings are non-refundable. However, we understand that plans can change, and we are happy to offer the option to reschedule your booking if we have availability for the requested service and it's within the 4 weeks. (Please note - this excludes the flexibility of changing your daycare day each week as and when you require). This policy ensures that we can manage our spaces efficiently and provide the highest level of care and attention to all of our guests.  We carefully group dogs based on their size, temperament, and play style to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. All interactions are supervised by our experienced team, ensuring a balanced and harmonious environment. 

 Our trained staff is happy to administer any necessary medication your dog may need. Please provide clear instructions and the medication at drop-off, and we’ll ensure your dog’s health needs are fully met during their stay. 

  Yes, your dog will enjoy plenty of outdoor time during their stay. Our 20-acre estate offers secure fields for safe, supervised play and regular walks, tailored to your dog’s individual needs and preferences. 

 We’re happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements your dog may have. Simply bring along their food, and we’ll follow your feeding instructions to ensure they stick to their regular diet during their time with us. 

Yes, we offer regular updates and can can send photos or videos of your dog throughout their stay. You can also reach out to us at any time via WhatsApp to check in and see how your dog is doing. You will also receive a daily report card on email from the staff on how your dog has played and interacted while they are staying with us.
